Our History

The Evergreen Montessori School began in 2003.  It was originally located in a wonderful old home at 1642 Poplar Ave. in Midtown.  Cendrillon Montessori School was originally at this location and had been there since 1985.  In 2003 after the retirement of Vincent Lapkine, Angela and Aaron Feathers started Evergreen.  They continued on with the same staff and teachers.

Determined to get AMI certified, Angela began the AMI Primary Training in St. Louis with fellow teacher Melissa Rye in 2004.  The hard work and dedication of the faculty and staff ran so deep that Evergreen outgrew its facilities in just four short years.  The foundation provided by Maria Montessori’s teachings has proven to be a solid one, and Evergreen continues to flourish.

In the summer of 2007, Evergreen made the move to 751 N. Trezevant, gaining room for an Assistance to Infancy, A to I,  classroom and a second primary classroom.  Now that our primary and elementary teachers are fully trained and we have a full assortment of materials, we are on our way to becoming an AMI certified school which we are expecting to have by the end of the 2009-10 school year.  The dedication of faculty, staff, administrators, parents and friends resulted in an excellent beginning for Evergreen and that same dedication continues today.
